Why does confidence mean so much to girls in dating?

I understand girls like it but to me it isn't worth anything . A guy can be really confident but be a total douche while a nice guy like me gets ignored even though is never cheat and would treat a girl great even if I am not confident or good looking. I have a good heart but girls don't care about that at first
