I've been really interested in becoming a Herpetologist in the future?

Recently i've been really interested in working with reptiles and amphibians and having a herp collection filled with a bunch of them in the future but my "main goal" is to become an "Animal Trainer" as i've always wanted to be and what not but being really interested in herps lately for the past few months, weeks, and years lol i'm really considering to having a career with them as well and might even take up on becoming a zoologist too but what courses would I need to take to have a career on working with herps and how could I get started at it from being the age of 16, i'm going to try and volunteer at many places as I can to work with herps and train other animals but what can I do to start a career with herps? any ideas?
