He probably just wants to get to know you. Most successful relationships start off with actually knowing the person for more than 3 days. Most people your age date people without really knowing them and it ends up being a week or two then it being over, seems like a big waste of time. If you like him then you should tell him you like him, that might bring up his confidence and ask you out.
