Can I mix old amphibians with new?

I have had my fire bellied newt Isaac for 6 years now. He was in a tank with other newts and albino frogs but I bought him alone. I was wondering if introducing him to another newt or frog would be a bad idea after so long? I feel bad that I've left him on his own for so long but don't know whether they would fight or anything? Please help!
